Over the years we have run clubs in the school holidays at Tops Day Nurseries, catering for children aged 5 to 11. Recently the children at our Wimborne nursery, voted to rename their holiday club as the Mini Beasts Play Club. The separate identity has been a real hit, setting the older children apart from the younger children. The separate identity has also encouraged us to plan and think about this age group in a more focused way and dealing with the specific issues that come with older children.
Needless to say, the activities planned are age appropriate, but also the need for larger portions at meal times and more physical activities and trips are introduced. We are therefore planning to introduce the Mini Beasts Play Club to all of those settings registered for the older age group, and if there is no registration at a particular site then there is at a sister site nearby. One of the advantages of a new approach has been to apply a charging system that is more straightforward to understand, offers greater value, and utilises the conventional sessions approach.
There are lots of activities and outings planned for the Mini Beasts Play Clubs based in Bournemouth, Boscombe, Wimborne, Poole, Portsmouth and Taunton. Many of our sites have transport facilities for mini bus pick-ups to and from your home and our outings range from educational trips to the local Fire Station to trips to local landmarks and parks. We also have lots of interesting visitors to give us presentations and educational talks.
THE WIMBORNE FOOD FESTIVAL
There is now a free family recipe book available, which contains our winning recipes from the competition we ran in association with the festival. Thank you for all supporting us in spreading our message about 'healthy eating'. Your recipes are delicious and it was great to see lots of you coming to the festival and supporting us at the event.
